 Dunfanaghy is beautifully situated among a wealth of wildlife habitats - sand dunes, machair grassland, lakes, estuaries, bogs, woods and sea cliffs to name just the major attractions.

Throughout the year there are many interesting and exciting views to experience. In the summer, for example, it could be the seabird colonies on the cliffs off Horn Head or the abundant orchids of the machair, and the bogs have a unique community of specialised plants and animals.

Corcrakes can still be heard in the summer evenings. In Spring or autumn a varied range of waterfowl are present, including flocks of Whooper Swans that can be spotted on New Lake and White Fronted Barnacle Geese, that can be spotted in the bay.
